Richland County, WI (August 23, 2024) – Deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the site of a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 14 near Sextonville Drive with complete road blockage and several injuries reported, according to officers' news release on Wednesday, August 21.

Richland County deputies arrived on scene and were assisted by an officer from the Richland Center Police Department. At least two people sustained injuries in the incident, but their current conditions and the total number of people involved remain unknown. An initial investigation revealed that a woman driving a sedan began slowing down for a vehicle that was turning when she was hit in the rear of the vehicle by a van, pushing her car into oncoming traffic. 

A semi-truck then crashed into the front of the woman’s vehicle and caused the trailer to roll. The roadway was shut down by the Richland Center Fire team as patients were assessed and treated by emergency services. Those with injuries were transported to nearby hospitals. However, the cause of the accident remains under investigation, and the identities of the victims were not released. Police have not provided additional details thus far, though witnesses were asked to step forward as soon as possible.
