Rhinelander, WI (November 18, 2024) – According to local officials, one person has died after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 17 northbound near Rhinelander Monday afternoon.

Initial investigation shows that a southbound vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle. Shortly thereafter, the  crash shut down traffic on Highway 17. The accident happened near the intersection of Mud Lake Road and Highway 17, according to a first responder.

Meanwhile, the other driver was transported to the Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital helipad, and then transferred via helicopter. However, no other information has been released.. Police have not provided additional details thus far, though witnesses were asked to step forward as soon as possible.
