Pewaukee, WI – Two Dead in Collision on Capitol Dr at Pewaukee Rd

Pewaukee, WI (June 28, 2024) – The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department reported a serious crash that occurred at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday on Capitol Drive and Pewaukee Road. Two fatalities have been confirmed at this time.


According to Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Nicholas Wenzel, a 49-year-old male was driving a pickup truck westbound on Capitol Drive about one-tenth of a mile east of Pewaukee Road, when it rear-ended another vehicle traveling westbound on Capitol Drive. The other driver, a 76-year-old female, died from her injuries. The truck then continued westbound on Capitol Drive and struck two construction workers at the intersection of Pewaukee Road.


One 47-year-old male worker has non-life-threatening injuries; a 46-year-old male worker was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the pickup truck has non-life-threatening injuries. The intersection reopened to traffic around 2:00 p.m. No further details were disclosed, but an investigation is still ongoing in the meantime.
