Oakland, WI (September 4, 2024) – Authorities in Wisconsin released further details on Tuesday morning, September 3, after a fatal vehicle crash took place over the weekend. According to officers with the Oakland Police Department, two people from Minnesota are dead and one person is injured following a crash early Saturday morning.
Per a release from the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at around 2:00 a.m. after OnStar had alerted them of a crash near 28624 East Bass Lake Road in Oakland Township. Deputies report that the other passenger was found trapped inside of the vehicle and, after being extricated, was taken to a hospital via Air Care.
The Burnett County Sheriff’s Office says alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash and an investigation of the incident is ongoing. As of Tuesday afternoon, however, the cause of the incident was still under investigation and the names of the victims involved have not yet been released.
