Manitowoc County, WI (September 21, 2024) – The Wisconsin State Patrol is helping investigate a two-vehicle, head-on collision in Manitowoc County early Friday morning, September 20.

Deputies and EMS were dispatched to County Highway X and Louis Corners Road in Schleswig just before 5:00 a.m. A Ford Focus going west on County X, driven by a 72-year-old man from Kiel, collided with a Volkswagen Jetta going east, driven by an 18-year-old man from Malone.

The 72-year-old driver died at the scene. The 18-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Neenah. During the interim, the cause of the accident remains under investigation, and the identities of the victims were not released. Police have not provided additional details, though witnesses were asked to step forward as soon as possible.
