Lafayette, WI (October 11, 2024) – According to officers with the Lafayette Police Department, a 31-year-old Wisconsin man died following a motorcycle crash near the entrance of a ski resort.

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle at the intersection of County Highway D and Townline Road, near the entrance to Alpine Valley in Lafayette.

Authorities found the motorcycle’s driver, 31-year-old Maxwell Bayer of Franksville, in the northwest ditch. Deputies attempted life-saving measures before Bayer was transported to the East Troy Municipal Airport for transfer to a medical helicopter. However, Bayer was pronounced dead soon after.

That said, the crash is still under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol and LPD in the meantime. No further details have been reported in the interim, but witnesses were asked to step forward.
