Elroy, WI (September 8, 2024) – Vernon County Sheriff's Office deputies reported a vehicle crash that occurred on Sunday morning, September 8, in rural Elroy, near the town of Hillsboro.

A 16-year-old passenger was killed in the incident, which took place northwest on County Road WW, near State Highway 33 when the operator lost control while negotiating a curve to the left. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment, overturned several times, and rested in a field.

In addition to the passenger, a 17-year-old male driver was seriously injured and transported to Gundersen St. Joseph’s Hospital. At approximately 1:00 a.m., the 16-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at Gundersen St. Joseph’s.
