Eau Claire Co, WI - Several Hurt in Multi-Vehicle Crash at Hwys 12 & 53

Eau Claire County, WI (October 29, 2024) – Police say several people are hurt following a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 12 near Highway 53 on Monday evening, October 28.


Altoona police say around 6:00 p.m., authorities responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 12 near Highway 53 in the City of Altoona. Officers further indicated that a northbound semi was traveling on the exit ramp from Highway 53 to Highway 12. The semi lost control traveling across both east and west bound lanes of Highway 12 coming to a stop in the north ditch.


As the semi traveled across Highway 12, it collided with an eastbound vehicle and a westbound vehicle who were traveling on Highway 12. Seven people, including multiple adults and children, were taken to the hospital with various injuries, according to Altoona police.


However, the cause of the accident remains under investigation, and the identities of the victims have not been released thus far. Police have not provided additional details thus far, though witnesses were asked to step forward as soon as possible.
