De Pere, WI (August 27, 2024) – A De Pere man is dead after a motorcycle crash took place on Monday, August 26, after 10:00 p.m., near Interstate 41 and Scheuring Road.
The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department says that a 20-year-old man from De Pere was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the biker was traveling south on I-41 before the crash, and they believe speed was a factor in the collision, but it's unclear how many vehicles or injured victims were ultimately involved.
Authorities say they'll release the victim's name once his family has been notified. However, the crash is under investigation, and police are not releasing further information at this time. Witnesses were asked to get in touch with troopers from the Wisconsin State Patrol.
We extend our sincere condolences to the deceased man's family. Our thoughts are also with any injured victims in hopes of their full recovery.
Wisconsin motorcycle riders head out on the open roads for the freedom and fun that come with traveling through the streets on a bike. Unfortunately, since motorcycles provide minimal protection from the road or other objects during an accident compared to passenger vehicles or trucks, motorcycles are particularly vulnerable on our roadways.
Moreover, when motorcycle riders are injured in collisions, they face a number of difficulties. First and foremost, others tend to assume that they are the cause of a collision since motorcyclists are often seen as wild and reckless. Secondly, since motorcycles are not enclosed by the protective elements of cars, their riders are at a much higher risk of dying or suffering grave injuries in a crash.
For these reasons and more, if you have been hurt in a motorcycle collision or lost a loved one, a comprehensive accident investigation with the help of a qualified personal injury attorney is essential to pursuing compensation for your injuries and losses.
