Nelson, WI (October 1, 2024) – According to officers with the Nelson Police Department, Mark Holzer, 59, of Rochester, MN, and Brian Shank, 59, of Chatfield, MN, were both killed in a crash involving a truck and three motorcycles.

Officers identified the victims on Monday, September 30, after the crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Friday morning in Buffalo County, near the township of Nelson. A pickup truck was driving north on State Highway 35 in Wisconsin when it crossed the center line and struck three motorcyclists in the oncoming lane.

Holzer and Shank were both declared deceased at the site of the incident. The third motorcyclist, a 69-year-old from Rushford, was treated for minor injuries, while the driver of the truck was uninjured. That said, the crash is still under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol, the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, and the Buffalo County Coroners Office.
