Wilson, WI (July 9, 2024) – Three people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 8, east of Tripoli, on Monday, July 8.

At about 10:15 a.m. that day, Lincoln County 911 Center received reports of the first crash at U.S. Highway 8 and Honey Road in the Township of Wilson, a Lincoln County Sheriff's Office release said. When officers were responding to the call to this accident scene, a second three-vehicle crash occurred just 500 yards east. A preliminary investigation indicates that two vehicles were heading westbound on Highway 8 when the initial collision occurred.

As a result, the second vehicle rear-ended the first vehicle, causing the vehicle to cross into the eastbound lane of traffic where it was hit by another car. One patient was flown via Medivac helicopter to Aspirus Hospital in Wausau while two others were taken via ambulance to Tomahawk Aspirus Hospital. However, the victims' current condition is unknown. For about an hour, the Wisconsin State Patrol blocked a section of the roadway, though no further details were released as the inquiry remains ongoing.
