Portage County, WI (July 15, 2024) – A Bancroft man died after a vehicle crash happened in Portage County on Saturday, July 13.

At 5:15 p.m., the Portage County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for a traffic crash, on County Highway JJ in the Town of Buena Vista. The township is about 15 miles south of Stevens Point. First responders from several departments, including Portage County and Almond, were dispatched to the scene approximately 600 feet south of Coddington Road.

One person was ejected from their vehicle and died from his injuries at the scene. An unknown number of people were assessed at the site by EMTs, but it's unclear how many were ultimately transported to nearby hospitals. The crash remains under investigation by the Portage County Sheriff’s Office.
